Osterreich
Well it has been over a week since I have arrived in Europe and I finally realized that I better get started on my blog or it just won't' ever happen! To keep this from getting tedious and boring I will only write about the main highlights. Which is obviously the scenery! This place is absolutely GORGEOUS! Pictures just can't do it justice. Tauernhof itself is situated in the cute little town of Schladmig, Austria. It's exactly what I would picture a village in the Austrian Alps should look like. Neat little houses, shops, cafes, and restaurants. Cobblestone streets, a town square with a little gazebo in the center. I posted a picture of what the typical house looks like. Every time I go somewhere I see people everywhere walking, running, strolling, sitting outside and chatting. It's the perfect little town!
School itself has been very interesting so far. Right now we are studying 1 John and Revelation. We also will be reading through the entire New Testament during these 8 weeks so that means reading a couple chapters every day. At first it was overwhelming and tedious but as I have gotten into the flow of things it's actually quite nice. One of our lecturers, Hans Peter Royer, put it into good perspective this morning. He said, "How do I know that I can trust someone? By getting to know them better. How do I know I can trust God? By getting to know Him better." And what better way to do that then by immersing myself in His Word every single day, even if only for these few weeks that I'm here.
The students here are wonderful. There are around 80 students here-from the USA, Canada, Germany, Australia, England, and Austria. The Germans are definitely my favorites to hang out with! It's so fun to try and brush up on my very limited German speaking. We have been (trying) to walk, hike, or run every day. The first time we went it started snowing right in the middle of it but we plowed right through anyways! Probably not something I would do again though! You can tell we are freezing in the picture! However the last couple of days have been gorgeous-the kind of weather and scenery that just make you want to be outside all the time. Definitely beats North Dakota weather!
Well it's about time for the internet to be shut off! I'll try to keep posting a few times a week. Tcshuss!
Love it Lisa!! Keep it up!
